Meet Our Team

William Hess, Principal and Founder
William Hess founded Hess Engineering and Construction Consultants in 2020, bringing nearly two decades of civil engineering and site management expertise.
Before starting the firm, Will worked as a town engineer for a Boston suburb and as a general manager for site contractors. He earned his Professional Engineer (PE) license in 2019 and graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 2008 with a degree in civil engineering.
Outside work, Will enjoys swimming and boating on Squam Lake with his wife, Jill, and their sons, Henry and Liam. An active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and New Hampshire Good Roads, he is dedicated to advancing his field and supporting his community.

Danielle Seufert, Office Manager/Project Coordinator
Danni is a skilled project coordinator with three years of experience managing and organizing construction projects. She brings hands-on expertise and a deep understanding of project dynamics and client needs to her role at Hess Engineering and Construction Consultants.
As Project Coordinator and Office Manager, Danni combines her organizational talents with leadership skills to ensure efficient project execution, on-time delivery, and exceptional client satisfaction.
Outside of work, Danni enjoys spending time with her family, boating, ocean fishing, and traveling.

Jim Sumner, Storm Water Management Specialist
Jim Sumner is an EPA-certified CGP Inspector and heads our Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan inspection teams. Jim brings extensive engineering experience and maturity to this sector of Hess Engineering and Construction Consultants. He holds a BS in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and significant Nuclear Engineering and Quality Engineering practices from his 20 years as a Naval Officer in the US Navy submarine program and his long tenure in consumer product firms throughout the country.Â
He is also well-versed in dealing with various regulatory agencies. In his spare time, Jim enjoys road bicycling, reading, and golf.

Ian Desmarais, Project Engineer
Ian Desmarais graduated from UNH with a BS in Civil Engineering. Ian’s prior engineering experience stems from conducting research on various topics at the University of Melbourne, AU, University of Sydney, AU, and the University of New Hampshire. While most of his research focused on fluid mechanics and climate change/resiliency, he has done work in material science, geotechnical engineering, and integrating social sciences into engineering environments. He was the president of UNH’s Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Ian spends his free time reading, playing games, drawing, and working on his fish tanks.

Wesley Lambert, Project Engineer
Wesley Lambert holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering and an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UNH, graduating in 2022 and 2024, respectively. His work at UNH's Coastal Response Research Center focused on oil spill research, with expertise in remote sensing, image interpretation, and stakeholder collaboration.
Wesley developed protocols to validate oil spill remote sensing technologies and advanced the use of UAS-based thermal sensors for detecting and characterizing slick thickness in Arctic and temperate environments. He also built UNH’s Facility for Outdoor Remote Testing, where he tested prototype and response-deployed sensors for detecting crude oil, renewable fuels, and emerging contaminants. Recognized for his contributions, Wesley was nominated as an emerging leader at the 2024 International Oil Spill Conference in New Orleans.
Outside of work, Wes enjoys riding motorcycles, boating, and golfing.
